On Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at approximately 5:28 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 58 near milepost 23.
Preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound Ford F150, operated by Gary Elliot Jr (27) of Oakridge, crossed over the centerline and collided head-on with a westbound Peterbilt CMV pulling a trailer, operated by Jesus Diaz (53) of Central Point.
Elliot Jr. sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Diaz was uninjured.
Hwy 58 traffic was affected for approximately 6 hours.
OSP was assisted by Dexter Fire-Rescue and ODOT.
