At 6:52 p.m. on October 23, a skateboarder in his late 40s was struck in the intersection of Chamber Street and W. 2nd Avenue by a taxi headed south on Chambers. The driver stayed on scene. Eugene Springfield Fire transported the male to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased. The roadways were closed until about 10:10 p.m.
