LA GRANDE — The Oregon Department of Forestry has reduced fire restrictions in the Northeast Oregon District from high to moderate.

Cooler temperatures and increased rain created favorable weather conditions across the area, which allowed ODF to ease fire restrictions across Union, Baker, Umatilla and Wallowa counties, according to a press release. The downgrade went into effect Thursday, Aug. 31.
