Eugene, OR. Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) responded to a reported apartment fire Saturday morning. At approximately 11:30 am, ESF responded to the Sorgenfri apartments on Hawthorne Ave in West Eugene. The occupant reported that an air fryer was being cleaned and caught fire. The occupant was able to evacuate safely. ESF Engine 8 was first on scene with a quick response time, encountering smoke and fire from the apartment. Initial units rapidly deployed a hoseline to extinguish the fire and search for occupants. The fire was placed under control and all occupants were accounted for. There were no injuries reported, and the ESF Fire Marshal’s Office is on the scene investigating. Thanks to a quick response from the closest fire crew, the incident was contained to one unit.
