Gravestone placed for notorious Baker City murderer

Samuel Pleasant Armstrong now has a gravestone — nearly 120 years after he was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery.

And the simple engraving doesn’t mince words: Hanged for murder at Baker County Courthouse.
