Hermiston High students push to change dress code

HERMISTON — Several Hermiston High School students and parents told the Hermiston School District’s Board of Education at its recent meeting how enforcement of the school’s dress code is unfair and sends the wrong messages to female students.

“You’re not teaching these kids anything,” one mother told the board. “You’re telling girls to sit down, shut up and be told what to do by males. And that’s just not appropriate.”
