JOHN DAY — High fees associated with public records requests filed with the city of John Day are leading some in the community to question whether the fees are justified or an act of political retribution.

Former City Manager Nick Green was charged $2,600 for a set of invoices he said took him over a month to receive. Stephanie Allen, a former accountant for the city, was told the charge for her request would be over $1,300.
