MISSION — Local tribal youth leaders took the spotlight Thursday, Sept. 28, during Ecotrust‘s Indigenous People Leadership Award ceremony.
The event at the Nixyaawii Governance Center in Mission on the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation honored approximately 24 award recipients. Probably their most significant project was the gathering of more than 26,000 petition signatures requesting U.S. President Joe Biden to remove the Snake River dams for the benefit of salmon.
