At 8:50 p.m. on October 30, Eugene Police officers responded to a burglary in the 3200 block of Kinsrow. The burglary and theft of an Ebike from an apartment had happened 10 to 15 minutes prior to the call coming in to dispatch.

An officer was driving in the area, near MLK JR Boulevard and Club Road and spotted a man riding an Ebike into Alton Baker Park. The man and Ebike fit the description of the reported incident, so that officer and another contacted the rider, later identified as Samuel Joseph Patterson, age 40. Patterson was arrested and was found to be in possession of Brass Knuckles and more than 40 grams of methamphetamine.  Patterson was transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Felon in Possession of a Restricted Weapon, and Possession of Methamphetamine Substantial Quantity.

The bike’s owner showed up to the scene and recovered his bike.
