At 8:16 p.m., on December 30, Eugene Police were dispatched after shots were reported fired inside a residence in the 3300 block of W. 15th Avenue. There was information a male resident, Lamontario Vondell Kent, age 49, had shot at another man, who fled. Kent remained inside with his wife. No one appears to have been injured in the shooting.

EPD patrol officers contained the scene and consulted with both SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team. The man’s wife exited, and officers were able to get the man’s compliance to come out of the home, where he was taken into custody without incident. A detective wrote and applied for a search warrant, which was granted by a local judge. During the search, officers recovered a semi-automatic rifle. Kent was transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on the following: Unlawful Use Weapon, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and two counts of Recklessly Endangering. Case 23-19591
