Street Crimes Unit is funded by Community Safety Payroll Tax

On July 27, 2023, Eugene resident Stephen Allen Laszlo was arrested by the Street Crimes Unit following the service of a search warrant at his residence in the 1100 Block of West 13th Avenue in Eugene. Criminal charges were related to Felon in Possession of Firearms, Body Armor, Theft, and Possession of Controlled Substances. At the time of his arrest, Laszlo made statements leading officers to believe he intended to force an armed confrontation with law enforcement. Laszlo was released after posting bail, subsequently failed to appear in court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Following the issuance of the warrant, the Street Crimes Unit began the difficult task of locating and taking Laszlo into custody. On October 5,  the investigation led SCU to believe Laszlo had fled to Clark County, Washington, in an attempt to evade capture and prosecution. An SCU officer reached out to the US Marshals Service Taskforce in Clark County and they readily responded to assist. Within a few hours, Laszlo was located and the Vancouver Police Department SWAT Team responded to safely take Laszlo into custody.

The Eugene Police Department would like to extend our thanks to the @vancouverpoliceusa and @USMSHQ US Marshals Service for the quick apprehension of Laszlo.
