JOSEPH — The city of Joseph’s efforts to bolster law enforcement within the city limits will have to wait for now.

At its meeting on Thursday, June 1, Mayor Lisa Collier informed the Joseph City Council that the city doesn’t have the money in its proposed 2023-24 budget to pay for a contract with the Wallowa County Sheriff’s Office that would assign a deputy to Joseph.
