SALEM — The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued a Smoke Air Quality Advisory for Deschutes, Umatilla, Union and Wallowa counties on Friday, Sept. 9, in effect until 2 p.m. Saturday.

Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecasted conditions will cause air quality to reach unhealthy levels. Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose and may aggravate heart and lung diseases and other serious health problems.
