SALEM — A group of Oregon Republican representatives and senators, including Rep. Greg Smith, R-Heppner, will visit Yuma, Arizona, adjacent to the United States border with Mexico, to learn about challenges with immigration, according to a press release.

“Though Oregon is not a border state, it still faces the consequences of America’s wide-open southern border,” the press release said. “Mass quantities of dangerous cartel drugs are being smuggled across the border and into streets across America. Human traffickers have expedited the flow of migrants, including women and unaccompanied minors, who are vulnerable to sexual exploitation.”
