Tillamook County, Ore. 27 June 24- Oregon State Police Major Crimes Section leading investigation of officer involved shooting in Tillamook County.
On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 6:37pm, Tillamook Police Officers, Tillamook County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Oregon State Troopers attempted to stop a white Toyota Tacoma in the parking lot of Fred Meyer near Highway 101 and Makinster Rd. Officers had probable cause to arrest the suspect for previously eluding law enforcement over the last few days. During the traffic stop, the suspect fired a pistol striking multiple law enforcement vehicles. An exchange of gunfire ensued between the suspect and officers from the Tillamook Police Department and deputies from Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect fled the scene and was pursued by TPD, TCSO and OSP. The pursuit traveled Southbound on Highway 101 for approximately five miles before the suspect’s vehicle was partially disabled by deployed spike strips.
The suspect, now known as Joey De La Rosa Rodriguez (37) of Damascus, received non-life-threatening injuries during the exchange of gunfire. The suspect was treated at a local medical facility before being lodged at the Tillamook County Jail for felony warrants issued by Clackamas and Yamhill Counties and Attempt to Elude.
No law enforcement members were injured during this incident.
Pursuant to the Tillamook County Deadly Physical Force Plan (SB 111 2007), the Oregon State Police is investigating the officer-involved shooting, and any criminal charges concerning the suspect during the incident.
Involved law enforcement members have been placed on paid administrative leave by their respective agencies. Any further information will be released by the Tillamook County District Attorney’s Office or the Oregon State Police.

Union County, Ore. 22 June 24- On Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 4:20 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 203, near milepost 7, in Union County.
The preliminary investigation indicated Ford Explorer, operated by William Justin Curtiss (38) of Union, left it’s lane of travel for unknown reasons, overcorrected across the roadway and struck a bridge abutment. The Ford rolled several times, ejecting the operator, before coming to rest along the shoulder of the highway.
The operator of the Ford (Curtiss) was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The highway was impacted for approximately two hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Marion County, Ore. 18 June 24- On Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 12:06 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Hwy 211, near milepost 1, in Marion County.
The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Kia Soul, operated by Keoki Kahee (23) of Canby, struck a pedestrian, Martin Cabanas Salgado (56) from an unknown city, who was reportedly walking on the fog line.
The pedestrian (Cabanas Salgado) was declared deceased at the scene.
The Kia operator (Kahee) and passenger, Taylor Hayes (22) of Canby, were uninjured and were cooperating with investigators.
The highway was impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Crook County, Ore. 17 June 24- On Monday, June 17, 2024, at 5:51 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy 26, near milepost 26, in Crook County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Toyota Tundra, operated by Clifford Dean Shields (54) of Prineville, for unknown reasons, drifted across the eastbound lane, left the roadway, and struck a rock and tree. The vehicle began to roll and came to rest on the passenger side on the east side of the highway. Motorists in the area stopped, extricated the operator, and performed CPR.
The operator of the Toyota (Shields) was declared deceased at the scene.
The highway was impacted for approximately 3 hours during the on-scene investigation. A medical event is considered the possible cause of the crash.

Umatilla County, Ore. 16 June 24- On Saturday, June 16, 2024, at 5:57 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84, near milepost 220, in Umatilla County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Dodge Ram 1500, operated by Barbara Claudine Abercrombie (56) of Irrigon, struck the rear of a Peterbilt commercial motor vehicle and trailer, operated by Marshall Lee Mondry (29) of Meridian (ID), as it was slowly descending a steep grade with its hazard lights activated.
The operator of the Dodge (Abercrombie) was declared deceased at the scene.
The operator of the Peterbilt (Mondry) was not injured.
The highway was impacted for approximately 4 hours during the on-scene investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Ford F-350, operated by Will Ed Bryson Jr. (77) of Klamath Falls, left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree.
The operator of the Ford (W. Bryson) was declared deceased while in transport to an area hospital.
The passenger of the Ford, Lynda Ellen Bryson (78) of Klamath Falls, was transported by ground ambulance and life-flighted to an area hospital.

Baker County, Ore. 14 June 24- On Friday, June 14, 2024, at 9:55 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single motorcycle crash on Hwy-86, near milepost 30, in Baker County.
The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Scott Douglas Moss (66) of Boise (ID), failed to negotiate a left-hand turn and left the roadway. The Harley traveled approximately 100 feet along the shoulder and 30 feet down an embankment, ejecting both operator and passenger. The motorcycle came to rest partially on top of the operator.
The passenger on the Harley, Joan Gayle Moss (68) of Boise (ID), was declared deceased at the scene.
The operator of the Harley (S. Moss) was life-flighted due to injuries.
The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.

Union County, Ore. 13 June 24- On Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 6:43 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 84, near milepost 270, in Union County.
The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound GMC Yukon, operated by Tyree Jourdan Hescock (41) of La Grande, left the roadway for unknown reasons and traveled on the wrong side of a guardrail. The GMC struck the guardrail and began to roll, ejecting the operator who was not wearing a seatbelt.
The operator of the GMC (Hescock) was declared deceased at the scene.
The highway was impacted for several hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound Ford Windstar, operated by David Joseph Babb (54) of Coos Bay, left the roadway for unknown reasons, struck a tree in the southbound ditch, spun, and came to rest on its roof.
The operator of the Ford (Babb) was declared deceased at the scene.

Lane County, Ore. 11 June 24- Oregon State Police traffic stop ends in Officer Involved Shooting.
On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 4:26 p.m., an Oregon State Trooper conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of River Avenue and State Route 569 (Beltline Highway) in Eugene. During the encounter, the driver exited and attempted to obtain a firearm from the passenger side of the vehicle and a less lethal force option (Taser) was deployed but was not successful. The suspect did not comply with verbal commands and was able to obtain the firearm resulting in the trooper shooting the subject with his department-issued firearm. Emergency medical aid was immediately provided and medical personnel from Eugene-Springfield Fire Department responded; however, the subject was declared deceased at the scene. The trooper was not injured during the incident and has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation by the Lane County Inter-Agency Deadly Force Investigation Team (IDFIT).
Pursuant to the Lane County District Attorney’s Office Deadly Force Plan under Senate Bill 111 of the 2007 Oregon Legislative Session, IDFIT is conducting the investigation with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office assuming the primary role for this officer-involved shooting investigation. IDFIT is comprised of investigators from the Oregon State Police, Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Eugene Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Cottage Grove Police Department, and Florence Police Department. Douglas County, Ore. 9 June 24– On Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 8:00 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy-230, near milepost 10, in Douglas County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound Ford F150, operated by Jason Michael Ettenberger (24) of Portland, went off the southbound shoulder of the roadway on a lefthand turn. The Ford overcorrected back across the roadway before rolling several times down an embankment and coming to rest on its passenger side. During the rolling event, the passenger in the vehicle was ejected.
The passenger, Austin Cordell Belford (31) of Eagle Point, was declared deceased at the scene. The passenger did not appear to have worn a seatbelt during the crash.
The operator of the vehicle (Ettenberger) suffered injury and was transported to an area hospital.
The highway was impacted for approximately 4.5 hours during the on-scene investigation. Speed and occupant safety (seatbelt) are considered the primary causes of the crash.

Clackamas County, Ore. 9 June 24- On Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 2:46 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Hwy-224, near milepost 16, in Clackamas County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Chevy 1500 pickup, operated by Jose Luis Arce Tamayo (51) of Portland, left the roadway and struck a telephone pole on the north side of the highway.
A passenger in the Chevy, Rosa Delgado Perez (49) of Portland, was declared deceased at the scene.
The operator of the Chevy (Tamayo) was seriously injured and transported to an area hospital.
The highway was impacted for approximately 4.5 hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is ongoing however, impairment is the suspected cause of the crash.

The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Toyota Camry, operated by Karl Gordon Peters (67) of Forest Grove, drove onto the eastbound gravel shoulder for unknown reasons, crossed back across the lanes of travel into the westbound guardrail, and rolled over the guardrail before coming to rest on its roof.
The operator (Peters) was declared deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicated a northbound Toyota Tacoma, operated by Robert Patrick Conway (53) of Crescent, drifted off the northbound shoulder or the highway for unknow reasons. The Toyota continued down the shoulder, struck a roadway sign, struck several trees, and rolled onto it’s roof.
The operator of the Toyota (Conway) was declared deceased at the scene.

Douglas County, Ore. 6 June 24- On Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 10:21 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 5, near milepost 108, in Douglas County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a pedestrian, William Nailus Baird (74) of Myrtle Creek, was walking on a curve in the northbound fast lane when he was struck by a northbound Peterbilt commercial motor vehicle, operated by Jashandeep Sran (24) of British Columbia. The Peterbilt attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.
The pedestrian (Baird) was declared deceased at the scene.
The Peterbilt operator (Sran) was not injured.
The highway was impacted for approximately 3 hours during the on-scene investigation.

Yamhill County, Ore. 6 June 24- On Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 10:03 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 153, near milepost 14, in Yamhill County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a westbound Toyota Corolla, operated by Travis Joseph Byrley (25) of Salem, swerved into the ditch to avoid a collision with an eastbound motorcycle which had reportedly entered the westbound lane of travel. The Toyota lost control and swerved back onto the roadway striking the second motorcycle, a Victory CR8 operated by Kevin Gilbert McFadden (57) of Salem. The other motorcycle, which was reportedly in the westbound lane, did not stop.
The operator of the Victory (McFadden) was declared deceased at the scene.
The operator of the Toyota (Byrley) suffered minor injuries.
The highway was impacted for approximately 3.5 hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

OSP Fish and Wildlife asking for the public’s help to identify the person responsible for unlawfully killing a buck deer near Roseburg
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. 5 June 2024 – Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife troopers in Roseburg are asking for the public’s assistance in locating and apprehending the person responsible for unlawfully killing a buck deer with a small caliber air rifle on May 30 or 31, 2024.
The preliminary investigation indicated the animal was shot while in the 6000 block of Garden Valley Road between Kestrel Lane and Old Garden Valley Road on May 30 or May 31. The killing of the buck deer may not have been intentional, rather an individual may have been attempting to haze the animal away from a yard of residence in the area.

Linn County, Ore. 30 May 24- Oregon State Police Major Crimes Sections leading investigation of officer involved shooting in Linn County.
On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 8:16 p.m., Linn County Deputies were dispatched to 29380 Speasl Rd, near Lebanon, in response to a reported domestic dispute- which involved a firearm. While on their way to the residence, a firearm was reportedly discharged at the residence. Deputies arrived and located the reported suspect, Gino Anthony Marcoccia (49) of Lebanon, outside the residence. Marcoccia was armed with a rifle and advanced aggressively towards one of the responding deputies. Marcoccia did not comply with any commands given by the deputies to drop his rifle. Marcoccia with the gun in hand, advanced directly towards one of the deputies, closing the distance with him. That deputy discharged his firearm and Marcoccia fell to the ground and dropped the rifle.
Deputies immediately removed the rifle to a safer distance and began providing emergency medical aid to Marcoccia, however, he was declared deceased at the scene.
No law enforcement members were injured during this incident.
Pursuant to Linn County Use of Deadly Force (SB 111) protocols, the Oregon State Police is investigating the officer-involved shooting, and any involved law enforcement members have been placed on paid administrative leave by their respective agencies. Any further information will be released by the Linn County District Attorney or the Oregon State Police.
Clackamas County, Ore. 29 May 24- Oregon State Police Major Crimes Section is investigating the murder of an adult male in Clackamas County.
On Wed., May 29, 2024, at 5:43 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to the report of an adult male lying on the right shoulder of Interstate 5 southbound near the Charbonneau offramp (exit 282). The initial reports indicated the victim was possibly struck by a vehicle. OSP responded to the area and discovered Oscar Lizardo Chaidez (42) of Salem deceased. A subsequent investigation by OSP and the Clackamas County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed Chaidez was the victim of a homicide.
