PENDLETON — Mayor John Turner made the deciding vote Tuesday, May 21, during the Pendleton City Council meeting in favor of repaving Northwest Despain Avenue with bulb-outs for pedestrian safety.
The council reopened discussion on the topic after receiving public pushback on the council’s decision during its May 7 meeting to repave the street with bulb-outs. After hearing criticism from members of the public, who were either ambivalent or against the bulb-outs, as well as comments from Tim Simons, Pcommunity development director and a city engineer, the council took a vote.
