PENDLETON — A “commitment to effective urban forest management” earned Pendleton the title of being a 2023 Tree City USA, according to a press release from the Arbor Day Foundation.
The requirements to be a Tree City USA include maintaining a tree board or department, having a tree care ordinance, dedicating an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and hosting an Arbor Day observance and proclamation. In 2024, Arbor Day will be April 26.
