Portland Track Festival opens with several thrilling races, 1 unofficial world record

Crater's Tyrone Gorze, pictured winning the boys 3,000-meter race during the OSAA state championship meet last month at Hayward Field in Eugene, clocked 29 minutes, 29.92 seconds in the 10,000 meters on Friday night at the Portland Track Festival.

The atmospheric river that dumped buckets of rain on Lewis & Clark College’s Griswold Stadium could not dampen the spirits of Rose City track fans nor the national-class competitive runners at the Portland Track Festival on Friday night.
