PENDLETON — Sage Delong is Umatilla County’s new emergency manager, having started the role at the beginning of May. The former congressional field representative said he has been doing everything in his power to catch up on emergency plans the county has laid out during the last several decades.
“I have a small background in emergency management through wildland fire,” Delong said. “I did that for five years. Some of my classes in the masters of business administration program really helped, particularly with things like grant writing, which is a big part of emergency management.”
