HERMISTON — Following a six-month campaign and a Sept. 30 deadline, the state and local and community partners are lauding their efforts to offer well-testing for 3,300 domestic homes in the Lower Umatilla Basin Groundwater Management Area.

Acting upon a directive from Gov. Tina Kotek, the Oregon Health Authority and Department of Human Services, along with public health departments and community organizations, teamed to alert households with domestic wells in Morrow and Umatilla counties about nitrate levels and free water testing.
