  • A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING FOR THE GRANDE RONDE VALLEY, THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, THE SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, THE JOHN DAY BASIN, THE FOOTHILLS OF NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, THE FOOTHILLS OF SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, AND WALLOWA COUNTY.
  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) will help increase the frontal activity over Oregon. The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal system that’s sliding in on Sunday. The graphics for days 3-7  Tuesday through Saturday show the frontal activity approaching the Pacific Northwest Wednesday through next Saturday.
  • Note: The Hurricane season has officially begun. Hurricane Agatha struck southern Mexico and fell apart. It’s remnants have redeveloped in the Gulf of Mexico and producing torrential rains over Southern Florida.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:
