ADVISORIES

  • A FLOOD WARNING FOR A DAM FLOODGATE RELEASE IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1:30 PM TODAY FOR UMATILLA COUNTY.
  • A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT FOR DANGEROUS SNEAKER WAVES IS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON COAST AND THE CURRY COUNTY COAST.
  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) is moving eastward to be replaced by an Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape). The graphics for days 1-3 show no frontal systems pushing through Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7  Thursday through Monday show the frontal system that will move over the Pacific Northwest Friday and another storm will cross Oregon Sunday into next Monday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Some AM clouds with patchy fog, mostly sunny and a bit warmer this afternoon, partly cloudy tonight,
  • Mostly cloudy, possible sun breaks, and a bit warmer Wednesday and in the evening, just partly cloudy late at night,
  • A mix of clouds and sun and a bit warmer with a slight (20%) chance of showers Thursday afternoon, partly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of evening showers, then mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of showers late Thursday night.
  • highs 73-77 lows 50-53.
  • Mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of showers and a bit cooler Friday and in the evening, a (30%) chance of showers late Friday night,
