  • A FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR STRONG GUSTY WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR THE KLAMATH BASIN AND THE FREMONT-WINEMA NATIONAL FOREST.
  • A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM TODAY FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON COAST, THE EASTERN DOUGLAS COUNTY FOOTHILLS, CENTRAL DOUGLAS COUNTY, JACKSON COUNTY, THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON CASCADES, THE SISKIYOU MOUNTAINS, THE SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES, THE KLAMATH BASIN, NORTHERN AND EASTERN KLAMATH COUNTY, AND WESTERN, CENTRAL, AND EASTERN LAKE COUNTY.
  • A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM TODAY FOR THE GRAND RONDE VALLEY, THE OCHOCO, THE JOHN DAY HIGHLANDS, THE EAST SLOPES OF THE OREGON CASCADES,  AND CENTRAL OREGON.
  • A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM TONIGHT FOR THE EASTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE OF OREGON, THE LOWER COLUMBIA BASIN OF OREGON, THE JOHN DAY BASIN, AND THE FOOTHILLS OF THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.
  • A HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT MDT TONIGHT FOR HARNEY COUNTY,  MALHEUR COUNTY, BAKER COUNTY AND THE OREGON LOWER TREASURE VALLEY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A RECREATIONAL USE HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR GALESVILLE RESERVOIR IN DOUGLAS COUNTY DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA BLOOM. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE RESERVOIR WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR ROUTE OF EXPOSURE IS INGESTION OF WATER. TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN, HOWEVER, THOSE WITH SKIN SENSITIVITIES MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. THE OREGON HEALTH AUTHORITY ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO VISIT THE GALESVILLE RESERVOIR AND ENJOY ACTIVITIES SUCH AS FISHING, CAMPING, HIKING, BILKING, PICNICKING, BIRD WATCHING, CANOEING, AND KAYAKING. BOATING IS SAFE AS LONG AS SPEEDS DO NOT CREATE EXCESSIVE WATER SPRAY.. SPRAYS COULD LEAD TO THE RISK OF INHALING CYANOTOXINS.
  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape offshore) will be moving through the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3  show no frontal systems approaching the coast. The graphics for days 3-7   Wednesday through Sunday show a cold front pushing through Oregon Friday and next Saturday.
  • Note: Eugene’s high temperature of 100 degrees Saturday was 2 degrees short of a record while Roseburg’s high temperature of 101 degrees Saturday was one degree short of the record high of 102 degrees.

Forecast For The South Willamette Valley Including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Some AM clouds, mostly sunny and cooler this afternoon, mostly clear tonight,
  • Some AM clouds, sunny and cooler Monday afternoon, clear night,
  • Sunny and a bit warmer Tuesday, then clear Tuesday night.
  • highs 90-82 warming to 87 Tuesday lows 54-52.
  • Sunny and a bit warmer Wednesday, clear Wednesday night,
  • Mostly sunny Thursday, mostly clear at night,
  • Then mostly sunny and a bit cooler Friday and Saturday, mostly clear Friday night,
  • highs 90-85 lows near 53.  (seasonal averages high 85 low 52)

  • Sunny and a bit cooler today, mostly clear tonight,
