  • A FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SILVIES RIVER NEAR BURNS AFFECTING HARNEY COUNTY UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO SNOW MELT.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge will seriously warm us up today. The graphics for days 1-3  Show no frontal systems moving into Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7  Monday through next Friday show a quiet weather pattern until a frontal system slides into the Pacific Northwest next Sunday and Monday.

  • Mostly sunny and a bit cooler Saturday, clear in the evening, partly cloudy late at night,
  • Mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of AM showers, mostly cloudy and colder Sunday afternoon, then a slight (20%) chance of showers late Sunday night.
