HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • The Upper Level Airflow (West to East) is going to give us more sunshine for one more day. The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal system that moved through Oregon today. The graphics for days 3-7  Sunday through Thursday show the frontal system that will slide through the Pacific Northwest between Monday and Tuesday, then another front is well offshore next Wednesday then pushing through.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • A mix of clouds and sun and a bit cooler with a good (50%) chance of showers today (under 0.10 in. of rain possible), just partly cloudy tonight,
  • Partly cloudy and a bit warmer Friday, mostly clear at night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit warmer Saturday, then mostly clear Saturday  night.
