Note: Weather is a constantly changing phenomenon and weather forecasting is a combination of science, experience, and intuition. The accuracy of any given forecast can chance due to unexpected changes in atmospheric conditions, so there are no guarantees the the actual weather will conform to the projected forecast.

ADVISORIES

  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM TONIGHT ABOVE 3,500 FT. FOR NORTHERN AND EASTERN KLAMATH COUNTY AND WESTERN, CENTRAL, AND EASTERN LAKE COUNTY.
  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM MONDAY FOR JACKSON COUNTY.
  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM MONDAY FOR THE FOOTHILLS OF THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Atmospheric River has been pumping a lot of moisture into California, but luckily not as much into Oregon  The graphics for days 1-3  show the complex frontal system moving through Oregon Monday. The graphics for days 3-7   Wednesday through Sunday show complex frontal systems  approaching the Pacific Northwest the pushing through Wednesday, Friday, and next Sunday..

Note: A check on the many groundhog predictions Friday shows they all predict an early Spring, But Spencer Butte Bob, My personal Groundhog, did see his shadow Friday morning (sunshine and clouds) in Eugene predicting six more weeks of winter. If our current weather indicates what the rest of Winter will be like then I’ll take it.
