  • A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR WILLOW CREEK RESERVOIR IN MORROW COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. THESE TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES  YOU MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. IT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) continues giving us above normal temperatures. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system falling apart as it moves into Oregon this evening. The graphics for days 3-7  Thursday through Monday show no frontal systems approaching the Pacific Northwest until a cold front positions itself to our northwest early next Monday to push through by late in the day.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Partly cloudy and hazy this evening, mostly cloudy with patchy fog and drizzle late tonight,
  • Some AM clouds, mostly sunny and cooler Tuesday afternoon, mostly clear with patchy fog late Tuesday night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit warmer Wednesday, clear with patchy fog at night,
