  • A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR WILLOW CREEK RESERVOIR IN MORROW COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) will be pushing a series of fronts to the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show frontal system near of approaching Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7  Wednesday through Sunday show our rain season looks like it it really has started with a cold front that moved through Tuesday. Another complex frontal system will slide through between Friday and Saturday followed  with yet another front approaching the Pacific Northwest next Sunday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Partly cloudy this evening, increasing clouds to cloudy with rain late tonight (0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • Mostly cloudy with AM rain, showers and a bit cooler Monday afternoon (0.50 in. of rain possible), a good (50%) chance of showers Monday night,
