  • A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR WILLOW CREEK RESERVOIR IN MORROW COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. THESE TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES  YOU MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. IT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) gives way to a series of storm systems. A frontal system will move in bringing rain chances today. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system moving into the Pacific Northwest from the northwest today and tonight. The graphics for days 3-7  Friday through Tuesday show the complex frontal systems that will move in Friday through Tuesday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy, possible sun breaks, and slightly cooler with rain and a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms today (0.25 in. of rain possible, more in storms), a good (50%) chance of evening showers with a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms, a slight (20%) chance of showers late tonight (under 0.10 in. of rain possible, more in storms),
