  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM WEDNESDAY UNTIL 7 PM THURSDAY FOR THE FOOTHILLS OF THE SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON AND THE GRANDE RONDE VALLEY.
  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM WEDNESDAY UNTIL 4 AM THURSDAY FOR JACKSON COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) offshore will keep the storms moving into the  Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show the next frontal system offshore that will move through Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7  Friday through Tuesday show the continuing parade of strong frontal systems headed our way through the period.
