  • THE PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY ISSUED FOR UNSAFE LEVELS OF FECAL BACTERIA IN OCEAN WATERS AT D RIVER BEACH IN LINCOLN COUNTY HAS BEEN LIFTED.
  • A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS AROUND EAGLE RIDGE  COUNTY PARK IN UPPER KLAMATH LAKE IN KLAMATH COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. THESE TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES  YOU MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. IT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS.   • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • The Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) bubbling up from the southwest will be sparing with Upper Level Low Pressure and that will slowly change our weather toward cooler temperatures. The graphics for days 1-3 show a slow moving frontal system attempting to move into Oregon today and Tuesday. The graphics for days 3-7   Thursday through Monday show a frontal system pushing into the Pacific Northwest through Friday, yet another front will be to our northwest Sunday and moving in next Monday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • A mix of clouds and sun and a bit cooler today, partly cloudy tonight,
  • AM clouds and sun, mostly sunny and a bit warmer Tuesday afternoon, mostly clear at night,
  • Mostly sunny Wednesday, then partly cloudy Wednesday night.
  • highs 90-92 lows 59-56.
  • Mostly sunny and a bit cooler Thursday, partly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of showers Thursday night,
  • Partly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of AM showers, partly cloudy and a bit warmer Friday afternoon, mostly clear at night,
