- THE PUBLIC HEALTH ADVISORY ISSUED FOR UNSAFE LEVELS OF FECAL BACTERIA IN OCEAN WATERS AT D RIVER BEACH IN LINCOLN COUNTY HAS BEEN LIFTED.
- A RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR AREAS AROUND EAGLE RIDGE COUNTY PARK IN UPPER KLAMATH LAKE IN KLAMATH COUNTY DUE THE PRESENCE OF A CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOM AND CYANOTOXINS ABOVE RECREATIONAL USE VALUES FOR HUMAN EXPOSURE. PEOPLE SHOULD AVOID SWIMMING AND HIGH-SPEED WATER ACTIVITIES, SUCH AS WATER SKIING OR POWER BOATING, IN AREAS OF THE LAKE WHERE BLOOMS ARE, AS THE MAJOR RISK OF EXPOSURE IS FROM INGESTING WATER. THESE TOXINS ARE NOT ABSORBED THROUGH THE SKIN. HOWEVER, IF YOU HAVE SKIN SENSITIVITIES YOU MAY GET A PUFFY RED RASH. IT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.
THE WEATHER PATTERN
An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) off the California Coast brought a chance of showers and thunderstorm to the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show no frontal systems moving through or into Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7 Saturday through Wednesday show the frontal activity through next Monday with a front to our northwest next Tuesday.
Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:
- Cloudy start, partly cloudy and a bit cooler this afternoon, partly cloudy tonight,
- Mostly sunny and a bit warmer Thursday, clear at night,
- Mostly sunny Friday, then mostly clear Friday night.
- highs 82-87 cooling to 84 Friday lows near 53.
- Some AM clouds, mostly sunny and a bit cooler Saturday afternoon, mostly clear Saturday night,
- Mostly sunny and a bit warmer Sunday and Monday, mostly clear both nights,
