  • A FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING FOR THE COQUILLE RIVER AT COQUILLE AFFECTING COOS COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

The Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) sits along the coast still giving us rain chances, but sending most of the moisture into California.The graphics for days 1-3 show the next warm front approaching the coast Tuesday. The graphics for days 3-7  show active weather systems headed our way through the period.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with a good (50%) chance of evening rain, a slight (20%) chance of rain late tonight (under 0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • A mix of clouds and sun with a slight (20%) chance of showers (under 0.10 in. of rain possible) and slightly cooler Monday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), partly cloudy with patchy fog and a slight (20%)  chance of showers Monday night,
  •  Mostly cloudy with a good (50%) chance of showers Tuesday, evening showers likely (70%), rain late at night (under 0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • Mostly cloudy with rain Wednesday, evening rain, then a slight (20%) rain late Wednesday night.
