  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM TODAY ABOVE 4,000 FT. FOR THE SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, THE OCHOCO, AND THE JOHN DAY HIGHLANDS.
  • A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM TODAY FOR THE SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.
  •  WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM TODAY ABOVE 3,500 FT. FOR THE LOWER COLUMBIA THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON AND THE NORTHWEST BLUE MOUNTAINS.
  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM TODAY FOR THE LOWER COLUMBIA BASIN OF OREGON, THE FOOTHILLS OF THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON AND  THE FOOTHILLS OF THE SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) will help to increase frontal activity over the Pacific Northwest.  The graphics for days 1-3 show our the frontal system moving through Tuesday. The graphics for days 3-7 show more frontal activity moving our way Thursday through Monday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of AM showers, just mostly cloudy, with possible sun breaks, and a bit cooler this afternoon, a good (50%) chance of rain late tonight,
  • Mostly cloudy with AM rain, showers Tuesday afternoon (0.25 in. of rain possible), evening showers, a good (50%) chance of showers late at night,
  • Mostly cloudy with a (40%) chance of showers Wednesday, then just partly cloudy Wednesday night.
  • highs near 49 lows 36-38 cooling to 32 Wednesday night.
  • A mix of clouds and sun and a bit warmer Thursday, mostly cloudy with a (30%) chance of rain Thursday night,
  • Mostly cloudy and a  bit cooler with a (40%) chance of rain Friday, a (40%) chance of showers at night,
