  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM TODAY UNTIL 7 AM WEDNESDAY FOR THE FOOTHILLS OF THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) will help to increase frontal activity over the Pacific Northwest.  The graphics for days 1-3 show our the frontal system moving through Tuesday. The graphics for days 3-7 show more frontal activity moving our way Friday through Tuesday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy and a bit cooler with rain today (0.25 in. of rain possible), evening showers, a good (50%) chance of showers late tonight (under 0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • A mix of clouds and sun Wednesday, partly cloudy at night,
  • A mix of clouds and sun and a bit warmer Thursday, a good (50%) chance of evening rain, then mostly cloudy with rain likely (70%) late Thursday night.
  • highs 49-56 lows 35-32 warming to 37 Thursday night.
  • Mostly cloudy and a bit cooler with rain Friday, a good (50%) chance of evening showers, a slight (20%) chance of showers  late Friday night,
  • Mostly cloudy with a (40%) chance of showers Saturday, partly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of evening showers, just mostly cloudy late Saturday night,
