  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM FRIDAY FOR THE GRANDE RONDE VALLEY AND THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.
  • A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS IN EFFECT FOR DANGEROUS SNEAKER WAVES FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE BEACHES OF THE NORTH OREGON COAST AND THE CENTRAL OREGON COAST.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch “shape) takes over clearing skies and removed the rain for a day. Upper level Low Pressure takes over again. The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal system moving through the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 3-7 show more frontal activity moving our way Sunday through next Thursday.
