  • A FREEZE WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON COAST AND THE CURRY COUNTY COAST.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U “shape) moves in returning moisture and another frontal system. The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal system that moved through the Pacific Northwest for your Monday. The graphics for days 3-7 show more frontal activity moving our way Friday through next Tuesday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Partly cloudy with AM snow showers and a (30%) of rain showers, partly cloudy and a bit cooler with a slight (20%) chance of showers this afternoon (0.10 in. of rain possible, snow level 1,000 ft.), just partly cloudy with patchy fog late tonight,
