  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM TONIGHT UNTIL 10 AM FRIDAY FOR THE KLAMATH BASIN, NORTHERN AND EASTERN KLAMATH COUNTY, AND WESTERN LAKE COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U “shape) is slowly moving southward over the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show a slight pause in the frontal activity.  The graphics for days 3-7 show more complex frontal activity moving our way Sunday through next Thursday keeping us wet.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Partly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of evening snow showers, just partly cloudy late tonight (under 0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • Sunny and a bit cooler Friday, mostly clear Friday night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit warmer with a slight (20%) chance of rain Saturday afternoon (snow level 1,000 ft.), evening snow with a slight (20%) chance of rain, rain late at night (0.10 in. of rain possible, snow level 1,000 ft.),
