A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM UNTIL 7 PM TODAY ABOVE 1,500 FT. FOR THE NORTHERN OREGON CASCADE FOOTHILLS AND THE NORTHERN OREGON CASCADES.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TODAY UNTIL 7 AM FRIDAY FOR THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON AND THE AND THE NORTHWEST BLUE MOUNTAINS.
A WINTER STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH LATE SATURDAY NIGHT FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON COAST, THE CURRY COUNTY COAST, CENTRAL DOUGLAS COUNTY, EASTERN CURRY COUNTY AND JOSEPHINE COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U “shape) is slowly moving southward over the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal that moved through Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7 show more complex frontal activity moving our way Sunday through next Thursday giving us chances of getting wet.
