  • A HIGH WIND WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING FOR JACKSON COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) continues to control the weather of the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show a frontal system approaching the Oregon coast. The graphics for days 3-7 show an increase in complex frontal systems moving our way Wednesday through next Sunday continuing the rain chances.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with AM fog with scattered rain and snow showers (under 0.10 in. of rain possible, no snow accumulation expected, snow level 500 ft.), showers and a bit warmer this afternoon, scattered evening showers with a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms (under 0.10 in.  rain possible, small hail possible), just mostly cloudy with patchy fog late tonight,
  • Mostly cloudy with patchy AM fog and a slight (20%) chance of rain (snow level 500 ft.), a slight (20%) chance of rain and a bit warmer Monday afternoon (snow level 1,500 ft.), rain at night (0.10 in. of rain  possible),
  • Mostly cloudy with rain and a bit warmer Tuesday, partly cloudy with a good (50%) chance of evening rain, then partly cloudy with patchy frost late Tuesday night.
