THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • As the Upper Level Low Pressure Trough moves eastward and the High Pressure in the Southwest US Strengthens our way we keep dry a while longer. The graphics for days 1-3 show the frontal system moving over Oregon Saturday increasing the cloud cover.
  • . The graphics for days 3-7   Monday through Friday show the frontal activity for the Pacific Northwest through the period and one frontal system offshore Thursday, then sliding eastward next Friday.
  • NOTE: As usual, we have already had the sunny and hot weather that we should have for the Independence Day Holiday weekend, but no.. more clouds, cooler and even a chance of a shower for at least part of the long 4th of July Holiday weekend.
