  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) is moving away from the Pacific Northwest to be replaced by an Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape). The graphics for days 1-3 show no new frontal systems approaching Oregon. The graphics for days 3-7   Wednesday through Sunday show a front coming from the west into Oregon Wednesday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with a (30%) chance of AM scattered showers, a bit warmer with a slight (20%) chance of showers this afternoon (Father’s Day, Juneteenth), mostly cloudy tonight,
  • Mostly cloudy start, mostly sunny and a bit warmer Monday afternoon, mostly clear at night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit warmer Tuesday (Summer Solstice), then mostly clear Tuesday night.
  • highs 67-79 lows 49-55.
  • Mostly sunny Wednesday, mostly clear Wednesday night,
  • Mostly sunny and a bit cooler Thursday, mostly clear at night.
