  • A FLOOD WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE COLUMBIA RIVER AT VANCOUVER AFFECTING MULTNOMAH COUNTY.
  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) will be moving in to increase the rain in the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 1-3 show a front moving across Oregon today. The graphics for days 3-7   Sunday through Thursday show a front sliding down from the northwest Tuesday and next Wednesday, then leaving the Northwest next Thursday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Clouds and sun with a (30%) chance of AM showers, a bit cooler with a slight (20%) chance of showers this afternoon, mostly cloudy with a slight (20%) chance of showers late tonight (under 0.10 in. of rain possible),
  • Mostly cloudy and a bit cooler with showers Friday (0.10 in. of rain possible), a good (50%) chance of evening showers, a slight (20%) chance of showers late at night (under 0.10 in. of rain possible),
