HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN:

  • The Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) has moved to the east and is followed by an Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape). The graphics for days 1-3  show high pressure taking over and with clearing skies and no rain. The graphics for days 3-7    Sunday through Thursday show active weather with complex frontal systems active over the Pacific Ocean moving toward then into the Pacific Northwest.

Forecast For The South Willamette Valley Including Eugene-Springfield:

  • A mix of clouds and sun and a bit warmer today, partly cloudy this evening, mostly cloudy late tonight,
  • A mix of clouds and sun Friday, partly cloudy and night,
  • Some AM clouds, sunny Saturday, partly cloudy in the evening, then mostly cloudy late Saturday night.
  • highs near 57 lows near 39.
  • Mostly cloudy and a bit cooler with a (30%) chance of showers Sunday, rain Sunday night,
  • Mostly cloudy with rain and a bit cooler Monday (snow level 1,000 ft.), rain with snow likely (70%) at night (snow level 1,000 ft.),
