HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN:

  • The Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) has moved over the Pacific Northwest bringing lots of sunshine for a while. The graphics for days 1-3  show high pressure holding on for one more. Low pressure will more day, then a cold front moves in Sunday returning the rain and cooler temperatures. The graphics for days 3-7    Monday through Friday show active weather with complex frontal systems active over the Pacific Ocean moving toward then into the Pacific Northwest.

Forecast For The South Willamette Valley Including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly clear with patchy fog tonight,
  • Patchy AM fog, mostly sunny and a bit cooler Saturday, partly cloudy with patchy fog Saturday night,
  • Mostly cloudy and a bit cooler with rain Sunday afternoon, rain at night (0.25 in. of snow possible),
  • Mostly cloudy with rain and cooler Monday with a slight (20%) chance of afternoon thunderstorms, then mostly cloudy showers likely (70%) and a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms Monday night (snow level 1,000 ft.).
