ADVISORIES

  • A FROST ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM UNTIL 8 AM FRIDAY FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON COAST AND THE CURRY COUNTY COAST.
  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM FRIDAY UNTIL 3 PM SATURDAY FOR THE FOOTHILLS OF THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON.
  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM FRIDAY UNTIL 3 PM SATURDAY FOR THE GRANDE RONDE VALLEY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN:

An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) is keeping the Pacific Northwest dry.  The graphics for days 1-3  show a frontal system aspproaching the coast Saturday. The graphics for days 3-7    Sunday through Thursday show increasing frontal activity through the period.

NOTE: Daylight Saving Time officially begins at 2 AM this Sunday March 10th. Don’t forget to SPRING AHEAD” at bedtime Saturday night by setting your clocks ahead by one hour. The authorities recommend that everyone check home Smoke Detectors, CO Detectors, and RADON Detectors to make sure they are in working order. Depending on the type you have and how old they are you can replace bad batteries or replace the whole Detector.

Forecast For The South Willamette Valley Including Eugene-Springfield:
