ADVISORIES

  • A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT  UNTIL 11 PM THURSDAY FOR THE SOUTH CENTRAL OREGON CASCADES, THE SISKIYOU MOUNTAINS, AND THE SOUTHERN OREGON CASCADES.
  • A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM TONIGHT FOR CENTRAL AND EASTERN LAKE COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN:

An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) just offshore is sending a lot of moisture to about all of the Western U.S.. The graphics for days 1-3  show a frontal system moving through into Pacific Northwest today. The graphics for days 3-7    Saturday through Wednesday show the complex frontal system headed toward the Pacific Northwest Coast moving through  through Southern California between Saturday and Sunday, and the next frontal system offshore Tuesday, then sliding into Oregon next Wednesday.

Forecast For The South Willamette Valley Including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with showers and a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms tonight (0.50 in. of rain possible, more in storms),
