  • AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON FRIDAY  UNTIL 10 PM TUESDAY NIGHT FOR THE EASTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE OF OREGON, THE LOWER COLUMBIA BASIN OF OREGON, THE JOHN DAY BASIN, THE FOOTHILLS OF THE NORTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, THE FOOTHILLS OF THE SOUTHERN BLUE MOUNTAINS OF OREGON, NORTH CENTRAL OREGON, AND CENTRAL OREGON.
  • AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM TODAY UNTIL 9 PM MONDAY FOR EASTERN CURRY COUNTY AND JOSEPHINE COUNTY, AND JACKSON COUNTY.
  • A RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM TODAY FOR GUSTY EAST WINDS AND POOR OVERNIGHT RELATIVE HUMIDITY RECOVERY FOR THE WESTERN SISKIYOU NATIONAL FOREST AND THE WESTERN ROGUE BASIN INCLUDING THE ILLINOIS VALLEY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT HEALTH ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER BAR. POOLS IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP BLUE-GREEN ALGAE (CYANOBACTERIAL) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED ALONG SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE  RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN:

  • An Upper Level High Pressure Ridge (“Arch” shape) strengthens again over us bringing more sunshine and heat. The graphics for days 1-3  show no frontal systems near the Pacific Northwest. The graphics for days 3-7   Sunday through Thursday show no frontal systems sliding into the Pacific Northwest through the period. There will be a cold front to our northwest next Wednesday.
  • Note: Please be extra careful with fireworks. It’s very dry and we’ve already had some brush fires locally.

Forecast For The South Willamette Valley Including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Sunny and warmer (Very Warm) today (Independence Day), mostly clear tonight,
  • Sunny and warmer (HOT!) Friday, clear at night,
  • Sunny and a bit warmer (VERY HOT!) Saturday, then clear Saturday night.
  • highs 93-105 lows 57-67.
  • Sunny and a bit cooler (Still VERY HOT!) Sunday, clear Sunday night,
  • Then sunny and a bit cooler (Still Very Warm) Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, clear each night.
