  • WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM TODAY FOR NORTHERN AND EASTERN KLAMATH COUNTY, AND WESTERN, CENTRAL AND EASTERN LAKE COUNTY.

HEALTH ADVISORIES

  • A PERMANENT RECREATIONAL HEALTH ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER AND MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER. THE ADVISORY COVERS THE SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER FROM CANYONVILLE DOWNSTREAM TO THE CONFLUENCE OF THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER, AND THE MAINSTEM UMPQUA RIVER DOWNSTREAM PAST ELKTON TO LAWSON BAR. PEOPLE IN THE BEDROCK ALONG THE RIVERS EDGE ARE ARE KNOWN TO DEVELOP CYANOBACTERIA (BLUE-GREEN ALGAE) BLOOMS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL TO PETS AND PEOPLE IF ACCIDENTAL INGESTION OCCURS. SIGNS HAVE BEEN POSTED AT SEVERAL ACCESS AREAS ALONG THE RIVER.

THE WEATHER PATTERN

  • An Upper Level Low Pressure Trough (“U” shape) is moving in bringing with it more rainy weather. The graphics for days 1-3 show the next frontal system headed into the Pacific Northwest today. The graphics for days 3-7  Monday through Friday show only weak waves of moisture sliding through until a complex frontal system pushes through the Pacific Northwest next Thursday.

Forecast for the South Willamette Valley including Eugene-Springfield:

  • Mostly cloudy with rain and patchy AM fog, showers and a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms this afternoon (0.50 in. of rain possible, more in storms), evening showers with a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms (small hail possible), just showers late tonight (0.50 in. of rain possible, small hail possible),
  • Mostly cloudy and a bit cooler with showers and a slight (20%) chance of thunderstorms Saturday (0.25 in. of rain possible, small hail possible in the afternoon), showers likely (70%) Saturday night (0.10 in. of rain possible),
