PENDLETON — As the members of Northern Cree beat the drum at the center of their circle and began singing Friday night, Feb. 23, a procession of people dressed in traditional regalia entered the Pendleton Convention Center.

The grand entry kicked off the inaugural Two Cultures, One Community Pow Wow, translated as Nápt Tananáwit, Láxs Níšayčt. The pow wow is a collaboration between the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and the city of Pendleton in an effort to bring together people of all backgrounds.
